The story is set in Hong Kong, where crime has been steadily declining in recent years, leading to a shortage of manpower in many administrative positions. After his transfer, Lau King-sing, along with Cheung Sai-kit, captures members of the Big Circle Gang during a mahjong parlor robbery, earning him a significant contribution and a transfer to the CID unit.

King-sing and Serious Crimes Unit detective Tik-fai often clash due to disagreements at work, but they eventually reconcile after helping each other during an operation.

King-sing meets Sai-kit’s ex-girlfriend, Fong Chi-kwan, initially disliking her, but develops feelings for her after his breakup with Yuen Ching-man, creating a rift with Sai-kit.

Tik-fai investigates a bribery case involving Yip Sum of the Chiang Group. Yip Sum’s attempt to bribe Tik-fai fails, and with Sai-kit’s help, he is exonerated, resulting in Tik-fai’s dismissal. Later, Tik-fai gains the favor of Chiang Group Chairman Man-ho and replaces Yip Sum.

Jing Sheng is in charge of investigating the “Jiang family” and clashes with Di Hui. The two are caught in a conflict of interest and personal feelings, leading to a series of confrontations…
