The newly appointed King Yama (played by Xu Mingjie) of the Underworld strives to modernize the underworld with advanced technology, achieving remarkable feats, yet he remains unaccepted and unrespected by Pei Lao (played by Chen Shucheng), the veteran official of the Weaving Fate Hall. Because the Weaving Fate Masters can control the fate of reincarnated ghosts, determining whether they will have a good or bad destiny, the Weaving Fate Hall holds a higher position in the Underworld than the King Yama, amassing immense wealth.

The King Yama, not wanting Pei Lao’s faction to monopolize the Weaving Fate technique, selects Haoliang (played by Xie Junfeng) and Jingjing (played by He Yingying) to infiltrate the Weaving Fate Hall as undercover agents. Haoliang, a new soul, reunites with his teacher Xiaowen (played by Zhou Zhihui), who died saving him 30 years ago, in the Underworld, and their relationship begins to blossom.

A major crisis looms in the Underworld: humans prefer keeping pets and refuse to reproduce, preventing the Underworld’s inhabitants from being reincarnated as humans! If the Underworld’s temperature cannot be maintained at a safe zero degree, it will explode. The King Yama decides to reincarnate the Underworld’s inhabitants as cats and dogs! Old Pei incites a protest among the residents, and the King of Hell summons Yiming (played by Zhang Zhetong) from the mortal realm to help, persuading the residents to agree to become pets in the human world. Yiming, for the sake of Jingjing, whom he once secretly loved, accepts the mission. Despite their differences as humans and ghosts, they become lovers.

Old Pei, because the King of Hell monopolizes his profits, ruthlessly deals with the King of Hell’s subordinates. Haoliang, Xiaowen, Yiming, and Jingjing each encounter unfortunate fates.
